The number 1 GOLFING

Tierra Del Sol Golf Club in operation since 1968, is a challenging course with beautiful views of the Manzano Mountains to be east and Rio Grande river to the west. Through the stewardship of private ownership, this golf course is the site of a first-class championship, public golf club. The club is funded through affordable golf memberships and daily fees. Tierra Del Sol Golf Club is a welcoming haven and the jewel in Rio Communities. Come enjoy a round of golf on the only golf course in Valencia County.

The number 2BICYCLING

Rio Communities lies on 3 bicycle routes. One starts in the center of Rio Communities and goes down Highway 47 to Highway 60. One starts at Highway 47 and follows Highway 304 to Highway 60. The last route starts at Highway 47 and goes west on Highway 309 through Belen. Routes that extend east along the Manzano Expressway are planned. This route would connect to existing paths from Del Oro South to UNMVC and beyond. Existing route starts just outside City Limits on Manzano Expressway and runs to UNMVC, Tome Hill and on to Los Lunas.5 minutes from Rio Communities City Hall.

The number 3FISHING

Fishing opportunities range from Irrigation ditches (stocked with trout) to the Rio Grande River, lake Manzano, Bosque Del Apache, Pecos River, Lemitar, Santa Cashe, Elephant Butte, Isleta and other small lakes. 5-120 minutes from Rio Communities City Hall.

The number 4HUNTING

Hunting opportunities exist throughout middle New Mexico. Game include quail, waterfowl, deer, antelope, javelina, rabbits, elk and others. Game rules are set by New Mexico Game and Fish 5-180 minutes from Rio Communities City Hall


This is a favorite past time for Rio Communities residents. Sidewalks exist and others are planned to provide more safe walking paths throughout the city. Many jog on unofficial trails along the Bosque and throughout the surrounding desert. . Official trails abound in the Manzano Mountains (8-10 miles east of Rio Communities). JFK Campground is the starting point for waterfalls and many hiking trails into the Manzano Mountains.


Del Rio Senior Center is part of the Valencia County Older American Program. This is a multi-purpose facility providing lunches and various activities. It provides exercise rooms, recreation activities, music, crafts and classes in yoga type programs. It is located at:
